One of the most
important leading media consultants Mr.Yasser Abdel Aziz gave the students of
college of Language and Communication (CLC) a simple and grateful seminar in Miami
campus part of Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. The
aim of this seminar is “How to be a good journalist?”
First of all
Dr. Yasser introduced himself and greeted the audience with his beautiful
attitude. Then he started telling the student a story of three guys and one
young lady but in a different ways of narrations and every one of them have a
different perspectives and then he asked the student to judge and write their
judgment of the three guys and the young lady on a piece of paper and then he
asked us to turn over the same paper to rewrite the story as if it’s a news
story.
After the
students wrote some of the stories, he gave them some tips on how to be a good
journalist, also he was saying to them that “without those tips you won’t be
able to be a good journalist”. Some of these tips were to be objective, no
Interpretations, stop labeling, compose a proper headline and do not fabricate
facts. And if you don’t have enough information about the thing you wrote don’t
mention it in your article or news.
At the end of
the seminar, the student asked some questions to take advantages from him about
media and journalism and how to stay neutral and how to apply newspaper’s
policy and his answers were very helpful, simple and fruitful.
