How to be a good journalist ? " Dr Sameh Abdallah seminar

This seminar is one of my favorite seminars I attend. DR Sameh Abdallah have a good knowledge and communications skills. He is very creative. He know how to deliver his message for us. Also he know how to attract his audience by saying things related to our major.

The main message he intended to deliver is how to be a good journalist and he managed to deliver his message in a successful way that he presented it through a power point presentation and his presentation is very clear, simple and straight forward. He stated points he wanted to focus and talk about within his power point presentation. Also, he told us some of his experience throughout his life as a journalist and when I heard what he said I was very interested to know more about his previous experience from the way he talked about him being a journalist in the past and how this had a great impact on me in a way that I wanted to hear more and learn more from what he said and from what he himself learned when going through all this life time experience. One of the important point he said it for a girl when she asked him a question softly with her voice he intended to tell us again and again that in order to be a great journalist you have to have a loud voice and when you do this you are able to attract many of the audience to you and that was actually true because with his voice we were all able to listen to what he was saying and be attracted to him without losing attention in between.

To talk about his intro it’s totally different from any other intro done by someone else. He started his intro telling a habit he have that when he gets in the mood he takes of his suit jacket which by this he is trying to be closer and friendly to his audience by being himself not to be fake. To talk about his outro ended by telling something very important for us that when you have an issue or a topic you got it as a journalist always focus in the head and leave the tail and after finishing he asked if anyone have a question related to power point presentation and what he said or any questions they wanted to ask him.

His verbal skills he managed to write his power point presentation in English and his presentation is very clear and simple vocab to be understood by everyone and this shows how he is able to send what he want to say and the message he want to deliver it with easy written language and for the spoken language he used to speak Arabic so it can be easily understood and to communicate with everyone but sometimes he use English words from the presentation and it is the key words he want to tell us about.

His nonverbal skills was the reason behind they were all done perfectly starting with voice, tone, and volume. He said “I don’t need a mice to talk and that a journalist must have a loud voice and everyone should be able to hear him”. His performance was good. In addition to his moves inside the room while talking and communicating certain topics and focusing on specific words in a certain good way, his body language was good.

He used the visual aids in a great way so that every word he mentioned was written in the slides in a very short notes, he used the short notes in the slides at the same time he was talking so everyone focused on both: the visual aid and the way he used to express it.

Finally at the end of his seminar, people were allowed to ask any questions related to wait he said or any other questions as he set his question strategy and he was also able to answer any question in an arranged way without neglecting any of them.

In conclusion, the seminar was very nice and I gained a lot of things from him, I will remember every word he said and could easily do it in a certain way. Words were so simple and understandable for everyone and the way he expressed it was so good that it will be last longer in our minds. It was a good experience.
